I’m a deeply reflective person, and I love distilling complexity into easy-to-digest frameworks that drive strategic decision making.
For example, I view life through this lens: we all have resources (Money + Time + Attention) and we all have ideas about what we want our lives to look and feel like.
But unfortunately, in an increasingly complex world, protecting and growing our resources and clarifying what we truly want out of life are often crowded out by busy schedules and countless distractions, all competing for our precious attention.
My superpower is keeping people laser-focused on answering these three questions:
- How do I thoughtfully protect and grow my resources (Money + Time + Attention)?
- What do I want my life to look and feel like?
- Am I allocating my resources in alignment with what matters most?
We utilize this framework at Five Oceans to empower people to live more intentional lives. And helping people thoughtfully navigate this path is one of my life’s greatest passions and joys.
In terms of my background, I grew up in Rochester, New York, and studied psychology at Hamilton College, where I was also captain of the men’s soccer team.
My first job out of college was in the Private Client Group at JP Morgan in New York City. After four years there I moved to Los Angeles to get my MBA from UCLA Anderson, where I was also Student Body President.
Along the way I spent five years at Dimensional Fund Advisors, and six years at TCI Wealth Advisors, a $4 billion financial advisory firm, where I was Chairman of the Board.
I left to found Five Oceans with my dear friend Chris Girbés in 2020. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and we feel like the fun here is just beginning.
I also have a background in the world of comedy. Though I’ve now “hung up the microphone,” I used to regularly perform stand-up and improv comedy in NYC. I also founded what is now The Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica, California.
I live in Santa Monica with my wife, Ali, and our two kids, Cooper and Hannah Grace. I love hanging out with my family, eating good food, hiking in the mountains, and laughing as much as possible (oftentimes at myself!).
Lastly, if you ever need a conversation starter with me, feel free to ask about any of the following topics 😀

- The reason I never ran the NYC Marathon
